Osseo High girls’ basketball coach Joey Waters has decided to leave the program to join her alma mater, the Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM), as an assistant women’s basketball coach.

Waters was hired to lead the Osseo program in July 2008. In her five seasons here, she led Osseo to two Northwest Suburban Conference championships and a section title. In the 2011-12 season, the Orioles won the conference, section and went all the way to take second in the state tournament.

Waters played college basketball at MSUM and graduated there with a Bachelor of Science in Education.

Osseo athletic director Ray Kirch said a search for the new coach is underway and a new coach should be announced in July.
