After starting the season off with a first-place finish at their conference relays, the Rogers girls swim/dive team were looking to have similar results in their first dual meet of the season on Sept. 7. They knew it was going to be a challenge, though, as they traveled to St. Michael-Albertville, a powerhouse in the sport year in and year out.

The Royals ended up falling 100-84, but were able to steal the show on multiple occasions.

No swimmer in the pool had a bigger night, arguably, than Elizabeth Kelzer. She recorded first-place finished in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, while also setting pool records in both events with times of 24.45 seconds and 53.51 seconds, respectively.

She was also member of the 200-meter medley relay team along with Amber Secrist, Andie Timpe and Abbi Northuis that took second with a time of 1:52.57. Those four girls would then team up late in the meet to take second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.26.

Other highlights from the night include Payton Scott taking third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:16.75); Timpe taking third in the 50-yard freestyle (25.21) and first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.95); Meghan Schaeffer taking first in diving with a score of 194.95, and Hanna Finstad taking second with an 189.30; Lauren Tate taking third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.33); Northuis taking third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.60); Scott taking second in the 500-yard freestyle; Secrist taking third in the 100-yard backstroke; and the team of Tate, Emily Dusosky, Maya Adler, and Scott taking second in the 400-yard freestyle (4:25.42).
