Fun Fest features Fandazzi Fire Dancers

The Fandazzi Fire Dancers will be one of the new attractions at Loretto Fun Fest, Saturday, Sept. 9. Events will start at 3 p.m. at the Loretto ball fields on County Road 19.

The Fire Dancers will perform at 8 p.m. Other new attractions this year will be a strolling magician (from 5 to 7 p.m.) and a Hollywood Squares Game Show, starting at 7:15 p.m. and pitting North Loretto contestants against South Loretto contestants. They will answer Loretto trivia questions.

Time tested activities will return. The first clue for the medallion hunt will be posted at 3 p.m. at the ball fields concession stand. A new clue will be posted every half hour. Grand prize is $100.

The Loretto Market, inflatables, rock climbing wall, kiddie train, henna tattoos and face painting will be available from 3 to 7 p.m. Search and rescue demonstration will take place at 3:30 and 4:30 p.m., and the Loretto Fire Department will offer a vehicle extraction demonstration at 5:30 p.m. Watch for a visit from the North Air helicopter ambulance between 3 and 7 p.m.

Music enthusiasts will want to check out live performances by the Johnny Yuma country rock group from 3 to 5 p.m. and Soul Sisters rhythm and blues singers, from 5 to 7 p.m. The KRWC Road Show will offer games and music from 4 to 6 p.m.

The Loretto Lions Club will offer popcorn and cotton candy all day. Food and beverage concessions from a local restaurant will be sold from 3 to 7 p.m.

Fireworks will end the day at 8:30 p.m. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Free glow necklaces will be distributed while supplies last.

Loretto Fun Fest T-shirts will be for sale at $5 each at the city information booth and City Hall. This year’s T-shirt features the work of Hannah Stolhammer, winner of Loretto’s Fun Fest T-shirt design contest.

Hanover food shelf will collect donations of food staples.

Love INC Heartland will collect donations of gently used clean clothing, very old or very worn clean clothing, very worn tennis shows and small household items to support its thrift shops in Delano and Howard Lake. Thrift shop sales support neighbors in need.

Place items that can be sold in a bag separate from old or very worn items that can be recycled. No furniture will be accepted. A trailer for the Love INC collection will be parked across from the ball fields in the 21st Century Bank parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 9.
