Representative Joyce Peppin, R-Rogers, is encouraging families, constituents and Minnesotans from across the state to attend the Minnesota State Capitol Grand Opening Celebration Aug. 11 to 13 in Saint Paul.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime event to celebrate our state’s beautiful and historic Capitol building, and I hope you will come down to partake in the festivities and see the outstanding work that has been done to the Minnesota State Capitol,” said Rep. Peppin. “This building belongs to the people of Minnesota, and the weekend-long celebration will have something for everyone. I encourage you to attend and see it for yourself!”
As described by the Minnesota Department of Administration, which is overseeing the celebration, the Minnesota State Capitol Restoration Project was a $310 million, four-year restoration, renovation, and repair initiative. As the first comprehensive preservation of the Capitol building since its original construction in 1905, the completion of the project will ensure our Capitol stands to serve the public for another 100 years.
Events over the weekend include a ribbon cutting, tours, hotdish panels, live performances, a kid zone, fireworks, an ice cream social, a craft beer garden, and much more. Full information on the schedule, ticketed events, transportation and Capitol renovations can be found at
