The family of Rogers business and family man Dean Eggert hosted the Seventh Annual Dean Eggert Memorial Ride on June 24, to coincide with the festivities of Rockin’ Rogers Days. Over 40 cyclists participated in the 100-mile ride as family and friends began the event with stories of Eggert and his love of motorcycles, community, and family.
Prior to the ride the family proudly presented CROSS Services Executive Director Elizabeth Johnson with $2,800 to help support CROSS’ work. The Memorial Ride has donated over $12,000 to CROSS Services since its inception.
Eggert’s longtime friend and fellow Roger’s Lion member Tom Gustafson once again coordinated this year’s ride.
“Dean had a passion for riding and for both the Rogers and St. Michael communities. For many years he proudly served on the St. Michael City Council and was very active in the Roger’s Lion’s Club. His favorite local charity he often volunteered at was our local food shelf/resource center CROSS Services. We honor his community involvement and donate 100 percent of the registration and raffle money to CROSS,” said Gustafson.
Johnson added, “The annual ride is a great way to honor Dean’s life and bring motorcyclists together to support CROSS. The Eggert Family, along with the Roger Lions, have been incredible partners in this work.”
Ninety-five percent of every $1 goes into program, with three percent supporting fundraising and marketing, and because of the volunteer force, only two percent is used for administration overhead.
More information about donating, service programs, fundraisers, and volunteering is available at www.CROSSservices.org. CROSS serves Champlin, Corcoran, Dayton, Maple Grove, Osseo and Rogers. In addition to the food shelf, CROSS provides housing assistance, clothing, support for children’s school/birthday/holiday needs, Meals on Wheels and more for individuals and families in need. All donations are tax-deductible.
