Maple Grove Lions awards $25,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors

The Maple Grove Lions Club has announced this year’s winners of the Maple Grove Lions Club/Dick Reimer Scholarships for the class of 2017. A total of $25,000 has been awarded to graduating seniors who reside in Maple Grove including one $5,000 scholarship and twenty $1,000 scholarships to be used for tuition at a university, college or trade school this fall.

Maple Grove Senior High School seniors receiving $1,000 scholarships were: Kyle Beachman, Stacy Brehman, Jackson Carlson, Madison Leyse, Connor McCune, Rithika Muralidharan, Kevin Northagen, Brianna Silvers, Maria Vanderwarn and Alisha Yamauchi.

Students from Osseo Senior High School receiving $1,000 scholarships include: Kaylee Anderson, David Hainlen, Kamilla Kisch, Alexis McPherson,

Wayzata High School recipient receiving the $5,000 scholarships was Mina Yuan. Other $1,000 scholarship winners were Kristen Busch and Alexander White.

Other $1,000 scholarship winners included: Elise Morre, Maranatha Christian Academy; Nicholas Hadzima, from Totino-Grace High School; Bennett Ryynanen, home school; and Lillian Smith, Benilde-St Margaret’s.

The Maple Grove Lions Club/Dick Reimer scholarship is named after one of the original charter members of the Maple Grove Lions Club and first Mayor of Maple Grove. Proceeds from the Lions many fundraising projects are used to provide scholarships as well as many other community service projects.
