Starting summer with a bash

Greenfield church hosts kick off to summer

The parking lot at Greenfield’s Riverwood Covenant Church was packed with cars for last week’s Summer Bash & BBQ event. The church’s field was swarming with residents from Greenfield and beyond who had come to sit beneath the sunshine and have dinner with their community.

The family-friendly event had a barbecue dinner, bounce house, a petting zoo, fire truck tours, horse and pony rides and lots of laughter.

Lynn Sommerstad, the children’s director at Riverwood and organizer of the bash, said the event was about kicking off the summer and getting people together for one night.

“We just want people to know they can come together in the community and have a great time,” Sommerstad said. “There are so many things to pull families in different directions and we wanted this night for families to come together and have a great time with the community.”
