Maple Grove Lions awards $25,000 in scholarships to high school seniors

The Maple Grove Lions Club has announced this year’s winners of the Dick Reimer/Maple Grove Lion Clubs Scholarships for the class of 2015. A total of $25,000 has been awarded to graduating seniors who reside in Maple Grove including one $5,000 scholarship and twenty $1,000 scholarships to be used for tuition at a university, college or trade school this fall.

Maple Grove Senior High School seniors receiving $1,000 scholarships were: Claire Anderson, Azrin Awal, Kayla Barry, Anthony Bogachev, Sarah Dill, Trevor Gifft, Marissa Hamilton, Elena Kolbrek, Colleen McCuskey, Christopher Orner, Grace Park, Rachel Salem and Blake Tiber. Sophia Vrba received a $5,000 scholarship.

Zachary Bartsch and Erin Nistler from Osseo Senior High School received $1,000 scholarships.

Totino-Grace High School recipients are Claire Baker and Amy Gasperlin.

Olivia Taylor of the Osseo Area Learning Center, Samuel Kaye of Wayzata High School and Jacqui Theisen of Benilde-St. Margaret School received a $1,000 scholarship.

The Maple Grove Lion/Dick Reimer scholarship is named after one of the original charter members of the Maple Grove Lions which was formed in 1963. Proceeds from the Lions many fundraising projects are used to provide scholarships as well as many other community service projects.
