Winter season’s state sports tournaments begin

The busy winter high school sports season is winding down, and the many state tournaments are beginning throughout Minnesota. Here’s a run down on the upcoming tournaments.

Boys and Girls Nordic Skiing

The state boys and girls Nordic skiing races will take place Thursday, Feb. 12, at Giants Ridge in Biwabik. The boys’ 5K freestyle is at 10 a.m. followed by the girls’ 5K freestyle at 11:15. The boys’ 5K classical is at 2 p.m. followed by the girls’ 5K classical at 3. Admission for the state meets is free to the public.

Dance Team Jazz and High Kick Divisions

The state dance team competition for the jazz division will take place Friday, Feb. 13, while the state dance team competition for the high kick competition will take place Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Target Center. The qualifying competition for Class A teams will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with finalists being announced at 1:15. Qualifying competition for Class AA and AAA teams will be from 2:00-4:15 p.m. with Class AA finalists announced at 4:30 p.m. and Class AAA finalists being announced at 4:45 p.m. The Class A finals and award presentations will be at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Class AA and AAA finals and award presentations at 7:15 p.m. Doors open to the public at 10:50 a.m. Tickets for single sessions are $14 for adults and $9 for students at the door.

Girls Hockey

The state girls hockey tournament for Class A begins Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Xcel Energy Center. The first round of games will be held at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m. The semifinal games will take place on Friday, Feb. 20, at 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center. The championship game will be played on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 4 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center.

The third place game will be on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 9 a.m.

The consolation semifinals will take place Thursday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. and noon at the Ridder Arena at the University of Minnesota. The consolation finals game will be played on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. at the Ridder Arena.

The state girls hockey tournament for Class AA begins Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Xcel Energy Center. The first round of games will be held at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m. The semifinal games will be played on Friday, Feb. 20, at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center. The championship game will be played on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. at the Xcel Energy Center.

The third place game will be on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m.

The consolation semifinals will take place Friday, Feb. 20, at 10 a.m. and noon at the Ridder Arena at the University of Minnesota. The consolation finals game will be played on Saturday, Feb. 21, at noon at the Ridder Arena.

Tickets for the championship single session are $17 for adults and $11 for students while single game sessions for the consolation round are $12 for adults and $8 for students. Tickets for the entire tournament are $92 for adults and $60 for students.

Gymnastics

The state girls’ gymnastics meet will take place Friday, Feb. 20, to Saturday, Feb. 21, at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion. On Friday, Feb. 21, the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion will host the team championships with Class A teams competing at 11 a.m. and Class AA teams competing starting at 6 p.m., while individual and all-around championships will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, with Class A teams starting at 11 a.m. and Class AA teams beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students.

Wrestling

The state wrestling tournament for Class A teams will be on Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Xcel Energy Center. The first round of matches will be at 11 a.m. with the semifinal matches taking place at 1 p.m. and the championship match taking place at 7 p.m. The third place match will be at 5 p.m. The consolation semifinals matches will be at 1 p.m. and the consolation finals match will be at 5 p.m.

Single session tickets are $14 for adults and $9 for students, a daily pass is $26 for adults and $17 for students and a season book is $78 for adults and $51 for students.

Boys Swimming and Diving

The boys swimming and diving state meet will take place from Thursday, March 5, to Saturday, March 7, at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. Class A diving preliminaries will be on Thursday, March 5, at noon with ticket sales beginning at 11 a.m. Class AA diving preliminaries will be on Thursday, March 5, at 6 p.m. with ticket sales beginning at 5 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and students. All seats are general admission.

The championship game will be played on Saturday, March 14, at 11 a.m. at the Target Center.

Adapted Hockey

The state adapted hockey tournament for the CI division begins on Friday, March 13. The first round of games is at 5 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 8 p.m. on March 13 at Bloomington Jefferson High School. The semifinal games will be played at noon on Saturday, March 14 at Bloomington Jefferson High School. The championship game will be played at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Bloomington Jefferson High School.

The first consolation games will be played at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Bloomington Jefferson High School. The final consolation game is at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Bloomington Jefferson High School.

The third place game is at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Bloomington Jefferson High School.

The state adapted hockey tournament for the PI division begins on Friday, March 13. The first round of games is at 5 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. on March 13 at Bloomington Jefferson High School. The semifinal games will be played at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Bloomington Jefferson High School. The championship game will be played at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Bloomington Jefferson High School.

The first consolation games will be played at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Bloomington Jefferson High School. The final consolation game is at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Bloomington Jefferson High School.
