“Our employees are committed to making a positive impact here in our community,” said Lance Olson, plant manager at the ConAgra Foods plant in Maple Grove.

The ConAgra Maple Grove Plant raised about $2,250 through various fundraising events in 2014 such as potlucks, a bake sale, and a raffle, according to a ConAgra Foods representative. The funds were provided to CROSS in December and the nonprofit was able to purchase nearly 5,000 pounds of food – enough food to feed approximately 175 people for three weeks.

“Supporting the communities in which we live and work is one of the ways we strive to deliver upon our company’s ongoing commitment to being a good corporate citizen,” Olson said.

The food was delivered on Dec. 5. with the assistance of volunteers, including those from Cabela’s in Rogers. The donations were unloaded and added to the food shelf to help local families in need. In addition to the food donation, the ConAgra Foods Foundation “Nourish Our Community” $15,000 grant was awarded to CROSS in October. The ConAgra Foods Foundation awards these grants annually to nonprofit organizations that provide “exceptional service to communities where ConAgra Foods employees live and work.” ConAgra Foods employees nominate non-profit organizations making an impact in their communities, and a cross-functional employee committee reviews and selects the grant recipients.
