Police chase through Rogers ends in Elk River

25 year old taken into custody, charges pending

On Dec. 13 at approximately 2:30 a.m. a Dayton Police Officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of County Road 81 and Brockton Lane for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle, Kayne Mueller, 25, of Albertville, failed to stop and continued to travel west bound on County Road 81. The officer then requested assistance from Rogers Police. Officers continued to pursue Mueller as he headed north on Highway 101 through Rogers, Otsego, and Elk River.

While in pursuit, officers learned that the vehicle was stolen from Sherburne County and the registered owner lived in the 23900 block of County Road 1. Mueller refused to pull over and officers pursued the driver northbound on Main Street through Wright County and into Sherburne County. Elk River Police joined the pursuit, which continued northbound on Highway 169 through Elk River and into the Livonia Township. Mueller finally stopped at the owners address in Elk River.

Mueller was tased and taken into custody. The registered owner of the vehicle said Mueller was an on-again/off-again boyfriend, and she declined to press motor vehicle theft charges against him. The vehicle was not towed and a search yielded several pain pills that were controlled substances. The suspect was booked at the Hennepin County Jail.

Charges of fleeing police in a motor vehicle are pending at this time. The Elk River and Rogers Police Departments assisted with this case as well as the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, and MN State Patrol.
