CROSS Services is hoping to make the holiday season a little brighter for families in need this year with the help of generous community donations and volunteer assistance. With the holiday season near, families of nearly 1,000 children from the Rogers, Maple Grove, Osseo, west Champlin, Corcoran and Dayton communities will receive support at the CROSS Holiday Toy Shop.

In addition to providing food, clothing, and housing assistance, CROSS provides support to families to ensure they have the opportunity to prepare for school and enjoy family celebrations throughout the year, such as the Holiday Toy Shop.

A few of the items in greatest need in 2014 are gifts for teenagers. A few ideas include gifts cards for books, clothing, entertainment, and general merchandise. Other suggestions include skates, books, watches, CD’s or DVD’s, athletic shoes, art sets, sports t-shirts, board games, and handheld games.

Several business and organizations are continuing to collect toy and/or food donations for families in need through CROSS in December. Toy donations will also be accepted at the CROSS Holiday Toy Shop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 7401 County Road 101 in Maple Grove.

Remember, look for the CROSS Services barrel or sign to know the nonperishable food and/or new, unwrapped toy donation will stay right in the community. The following are drop off sites:
