Vintage Wedding gowns display

SEPT. 8 — Can you imagine getting married in October in a velvet wedding gown with a 90 degree day? This is just one of the stories that accompanies the unique display of vintage wedding gowns at the Maple Grove History Center. The historical society is offering the public the opportunity to enjoy the display Monday, Sept. 8, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Hear the stories and see the beautiful laces and fabrics which the gowns were made of. This display will be up through September at which time a new display will be assembled. The history center is always open the second Sunday of each month and during the groups monthly meeting on the third Thursday of the month. Location is 9030 Forestview Lane just south of the new Maple Grove Public Works facility. Use the south driveway to enter and park.

Weight Loss group

SEPT. 8 — A support group for weight loss surgery patients will begin Monday, Sept. 8, and continue to meet the second Monday of each month at the Cambridge Medical Center Harbor Room from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Cambridge Medical Center is located at 701 South Dellwood Street.

Gould family auction

SEPT. 13 — The Gould family of Maple Grove is having a farm auction Saturday, Sept. 13, at 9 a.m. at 6882 Nottingham Parkway, Maple Grove. In 1965 Bill and Justine Gould moved to a 5 acre hobby farm in a little green house in the former Maple Grove Township. Since they needed equipment to farm, they started going to area farm auctions to get what they needed. Eventually they purchased more land adjacent to their property and planted fruit trees, Christmas trees, pumpkins and vegetables for area farm markets. They enlarged their home and built sheds to store things they kept buying at auctions.

Taste of Maple Grove

SEPT. 13 — The Maple Grove Dance Team is hosting the Taste of Maple Grove fundraising event Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Maple Grove Community Center, 12951 Weaver Lake Road. MG Historical Museum Open

SEPT. 14 — The Maple Grove History Museum, 9030 Forestview Lane, will be open the second Sunday of each month from 1 to 4 p.m. Use the south driveway to enter and park. Visitors are welcome to drop by and see the current displays. Check out the very labor intensive method of doing the laundry in days of yesteryear.
