Face Painting by All About Fun
SEPT. 6 — Celebrate the St. Michael Open Streets event Saturday, Sept. 6 by getting your face painted in the St. Michael Public Library parking lot from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All About Fun’s celebrated face painters will paint faces on a first come, first served basis. SEPT. 13 — Children in grades K-3 are invited to Read to Taurus at the St. Michael Public Library on Saturday, Sept. 13, 10:00 a.m. to noon. Taurus is a certified Reading Education Assistance Dog, and will listen patiently while children read out loud. Children may sign up at the library desk to spend 15 minutes reading with Taurus.

Loretto Fun Fest
SEPT. 13 — Loretto Fun Fest will take over downtown Loretto from 1 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, Sept. 13. Local bands under the big tent will include the Hargreaves from 3 to 5 p.m. and the Balgaard Brothers from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Shane Martin Band will perform at a street dance from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. Fireworks are planned for 8 p.m. or dusk. A bean bag tournament will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. on West Railway Street. To register or get information, call 763-447-3141. Many other activities for all ages will be offered. Festival visitors are asked to bring donations to the Hanover Food Shelf.
Fun Fest booster buttons may be purchased at 21st Century Bank of Loretto, Loretto City Hall, Axel’s Tavern, Detour 19 and Koch’s Korner. Buttons cost $10 in advance, $12 at Fun Fest or $10 with donation of food shelf items. Button purchases gain entrance to the big tent in the afternoon or evening and the photo booth and entries into drawings for prizes. Wrist bands will be required for participation in all children’s events and the photo booth, except for the K-9 demonstration, which is open to all. They may be purchased at a cost of $10 per child or $30 per family at the event at the Loretto Lion’s Park concession stand.

OCT. 4 — The Crisis Nursery serving Wright County is hosting the 5th Annual Timber Dash 5K Trail Run + Walk + Kids Fun Run Saturday, Oct. 4, at Lake Maria State Park in Monticello. This is a fun, healthy and kid friendly event catering to runners, health walkers and families who seek to raise their heart rates and have the heart to support a noble cause. The Timber Dash 5K (chip timed) is held on the trails in scenic Lake Maria State Park and has three sub-events. The Kids K will kick off at 9:30 AM, with the 5K Run at 10 AM and the 5K walk will start a few minutes after the runners have left the start line. This is a charity event with all proceeds benefitting The Crisis Nursery serving Wright County, a child abuse and neglect prevention program providing childcare, counseling, and support to families experiencing a crisis situation.
