Construction has now closed Lawndale Lane in Maple Grove. Due to the late construction start forced by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permitting, the contractor will be fully closing Lawndale Lane south of 62nd Avenue.
Access will be maintained to private residences at all times, but no through traffic will be permitted. Residents are also advised that County Road 47 will be closed in the vicinity of Lawndale Lane except for access to private residences.
Residents should also be aware that Peony Lane near Wayzata High School is currently closed, with no access to the high school from the north.
It is anticipated that these closures will last for the remainder of the construction season, but are targeted to be re-opened by Nov. 1.
Detour signage will be in place at the time of the closure. For north-south travel, use Bass Lake Road (County Road 10) to get to either County Highway 101 or Vicksburg Road. Use alternate routes wherever possible, and follow all traffic control and warning signs within the construction area and on all detours.
Future Roadway Impacts
In the near future, the section of Lawndale Lane between 62nd Avenue and 63rd Avenue will require closure to remove poor soils from the roadbed. Prior to that time, the city will establish the access routes for the residents that live in the Whistling Pines neighborhood off of 62nd Avenue, and communicate those routes in advance of the closure.
