The Maple Grove dance team will have its biggest fundraiser of the year at the 12th annual Taste of Maple Grove Saturday, Sept. 13, from 5:30 to 11 p.m. at the Maple Grove Community Center.
The event, which is open to the public, promotes local businesses and restaurants, and benefits the high school dance team. Events include wine and beer tasting, complimentary taste, silent auction and cash bar.
“The Taste of Maple Grove has been a premier fundraiser and social event in our city for 11 years,” said dance parent Amy Meehan. “Due to our amazing parent volunteers, we have built incredible relationships with just about every business in Maple Grove and have consistently received support year-after-year. This is a testament to our hard work and dedication to partner with, support, and bring customers to each of our partners in business.”
Last year’s event received donations from over 100 local people and businesses, which contributed to a huge Silent Auction that offered over 80 baskets to bid on.
“We had several new restaurant food vendors last year and received incredible support from our friends at the Maple Grove Community Center and Lookout Bar & Grill,” Meehan said. “We also partnered with several other local businesses for printing, graphic design, and photography. Taste of Maple Grove is all about our local community, and that is why we feel so strongly about returning year after year… not only does the dance team benefit, but the entire community benefits.”
According to Meehan, the proceeds that the Maple Grove dance team raises from this event are used to pay for team costumes, coaches, competition expenses and transportation.
“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we are so fortunate to have such a wonderful community to help us shelter the expenses and enable more girls to be a part of this wonderful organization,” she said.
