Candidates file for city offices, school boards
Filing by candidates for the November General Election ended Tuesday, Aug. 12.
The General Election will be Tuesday, Nov. 4. Residents will be able to vote for their city election, as well as other state and federal government elections between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.
As of the Tuesday deadline time, the following candidates had filed. They have until the end of Thursday, Aug. 14 to withdraw from the election.
Up for election in Albertville is the two-year mayoral seat currently held by Jillian Hendrickson and four-year council seats held by Rob Olson and Dan Wagner. Hendrickson has filed for Mayor and will be opposed by Brad Cedergren. Olson is the only candidate for council. Write-in candidates can pursue the second council seat.
Up for election in Corcoran is the two-year mayoral seat currently held by Ken Guenthner and four-year council seats held by Tom Cossette and Rich Asleson. Filing so far are Guenthner and Carolyn Holford for mayor. Pat Hank, Mike Keefe, Tonya LaFave, Alan Schulta and Jason Woody will compete for the two council seats.
Up for election in Hanover are the four-year council seats currently held by Wendy Pinor and Ken Warpula. Five candidates filed, including Warpula, Nathan Brown, Joe Kaul, Doug Nordberg and Jim Zajicek.
Up for election in Rogers is the two-year mayoral seat currently held by Jay Bunting and the four-year council seats held by Rick Ihli and Maureen Stanley. Candidates include Ihli and Bob Ivey for mayor, and Rob Bell, Mark Eiden and Bruce Gorecki for council.
Up for election in St. Michael is the four-year mayoral seat currently held by Jerry Zachman and four-year council seats held by Kevin Kasel and Nadine Schoen. Filing for mayor are Zachman and Jennifer Pederson. Schoen and David Dayon, Cody Gulick, Jeffrey Nied and Keith Wettschreck will compete for the two council seats.
Up for election in Greenfield is the two-year mayoral seat currently held by Brad Johnson and four-year council seats held by Chuck Alcon and Tom Cook. Johnson will run unopposed for mayor, and Alcon, Cook and Mike Hoekstra will compete for the two council seats.
In Medina John Anderson and Bob Mitchell filed for the two-year mayoral seat currently held by Elizabeth Weir. Mayor Weir is not seeking re-election. Up for election on the city council are seats currently held by Jeff Pederson, Melissa Martinson and Kathleen Martin. Two of the seats carry four-year terms, and Todd M. Albers, Lorie Cousineau and Martin will compete for those seats. Pederson is running unopposed for a two-year term. He would fill a seat occupied originally by Weir, who moved into the Mayor’s chair after the death of Mayor Tom Crosby.
In Rockford, the seats of City Councilors Todd Wenz and Jeannette Graner are up for election. Both carry four-year terms. Graner filed for a repeat term and will be opposed by Debbie Buoy and Ted Hill.
The Rockford School Board has three seats up for election. They are the seats of Ted Botten, Lia Hall and Chuck Tryon. Each seat has a four-year term. Botten, Hall and Tryon are running unopposed for repeat terms.
The STMA School board has two seats up for election. They are the four-year terms belonging to Doug Birk, Gayle Weber and Jeff Lindquist. Filing for these seats are Birk, Lindquist, Weber, Lisa Gray and Jennifer Peyerl.
The Delano School Board has four seats up for election. Incumbents Corey Black, Mark Larson, Carolyn Milano and Lisa Seguin are running unopposed for re-election.
