Rockford Area Athletic Association’s U12 fastpitch team made a great run in the playoffs this season.

In the end of June the team placed third at the state qualifier in Ham Lake, which also qualified the team to go to Nationals.

At the state tournament July 12 and 13 in Mankato, Rockford finished sixth overall. Coach Michelle Byers said solid defense in both tournament, coupled with timely hits were the keys to success.

Celia Hoffmann powered the offense by blasting some triples and home runs. Madisyn Rentz pitched throughout the post season.

Rockford participated in the national age group tournament for the class in Eagan July 17-20. Despite going one and four, Byers said it was an exciting event for the girls. A special treat was the opening ceremony parade.

Byers thanks all of the generous local business sponsors that helped the team go to Nationals.
