Comment period opens for I-494 rehabilitation project’s proposed impacts to Cedar Island park

The public is invited to comment on the Interstate 494 Rehabilitation project’s proposed impacts to Cedar Island Lake Linear Park in Maple Grove now through Friday, Aug. 15.

As part of the I-494 Rehabilitation project, MnDOT plans to use approximately 1.7 acres of property from Cedar Island Lake Linear Park along the west shore of Cedar Island Lake for a storm water pond. The proposed pond will hold the storm water runoff from the highway and filter the water before it is  discharged into Cedar Island Lake. Constructing the storm water pond will require removing trees from Cedar Island Lake Linear Park. The trail between Teakwood Lane and East Fish Lake Road would be maintained.
