Olive engaged in sexual contact with a female victim that was 10 years old. He was known on the victim. Olive was convicted of criminal sexual conduct or another offense that requires registration with law enforcement pursuant to state statutes. Waite Park Police Department was the investigating agency.

The police department hosted a community notification meeting on July 15 at Maple Grove Senior High School. The Minnesota Department of Corrections gave a presentation on the Minnesota Offender Notification laws, safety tips and information pertaining to the offender. Members of the Maple Grove Police Department and MNDOC were available to answer questions.

The Maple Grove Police Department released the information based on state statutes, which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sexual or predatory offender’s release from prison or a secure treatment facility when the local agency believes the release of the information will enhance public safety and protection.

Olive is not wanted by the police at this time and has served the sentence imposed on him by the court. The notification is not intended to increase fear in the community. Law enforcement believes that an informed public is a safer public.

The Maple Grove Police Department may not direct where Olive does or does not reside, nor can the police direct where he works or goes to school.

The risk level of Olive has been determined largely on his potential to re-offend based on his previous behavior.

People with questions or comments can call the Maple Grove Police Department at 763-494-6100 or email police@maplegrovemn.gov. To report criminal activity by the offender or any other individual call 911.
