The Maple Grove American Legion baseball team improved its record to 4-0 with wins over Anoka and Osseo.
Maple Grove traveled to Anoka to face The NW Suburban H.S League champs. In a dominating pitching performance, Riley Byland led MG to a 9-0 win. Byland hurled a seven-inning complete game shutout striking out 10.
Offensively Post 172 pounded out 13 hits. Matt Vogl led the way going 3-3 with three RBIs. Brett Schulze and Corey Palyan added two hits each with two RBIs.
The Crimson visited crosstown rival Osseo June 26. In a back-and-forth contest Maple Grove came out on top with a 6-5 win.
In the top of the seventh MG trailed 5-3 and were down to their last out. Austin Mathison came through with a double to the right center wall scoring two runs to tie the score. Schulze followed with the go ahead RBI single. Schulze pitched a complete game to pick up the win allowing only two earned runs.
