The Rogers Red Devils took care of business against the Polecats of Monticello in what wound up being the only game of the week due to the Rockin’ Rogers weekend event.
After taking a 2-0 lead early in the game, Rogers surrendered the lead in a situation which saw the Polecats tie the game at two. Rogers regained the lead when Jack Keisner scored on a Shawn Morris hit.
Later in the game, Joe Freeman provided the decisive blow with a two run double, a hit that made the score 5-2 in favor of the Red Devils. Rogers surrendered another run to the Polecats, but were able to close it out for the 5-3 victory.
Manager Aaron Cook said that his team picked up a solid victory and hoped that it could help kickstart something.
“If we can shore up our defense a little bit, that’s going to make a huge difference with our pitching.”
Cook said that the Red Devils defeated Albertville once last year, so he thought his team could defeat the Villains again this season in the upcoming game. That game took place on Wednesday, and the Red Devils play the Villains again on Sunday at 4 p.m.
