The Opus Foundation located in Minnetonka awarded CROSS’ Peace of Mind Housing Fund $5,000 which is matched dollar for dollar by First Class Mortgage of Maple Grove.
For the second year, First Class Mortgage has offered a $1 for $1 Match Grant up to $10,000 to help CROSS provide financial support to local families in a housing crisis. CROSS reached First Class Mortgage’s $10,000 match goal in 2013, and to Opus Foundation’s $5,000 contribution to this housing fund, CROSS is again well on its way to securing 100 percent of the matching dollars needed in 2014.
Community stewardship is at the core of The Opus Group, a family of commercial real estate development, construction and design companies headquartered in Minnetonka with offices and projects across the country. Since its inception in 2000, the Opus Foundation has awarded grants totaling more than $30 million.
During 2013, funds that CROSS had traditionally counted on for preventing local families from losing their homes were redirected to re-house families already homeless. CROSS’ staff is currently working with Hennepin County shelter staff to assist with re-housing families back into homes, but without First Class Mortgage’s $10,000 Matching Fund to help keep local families in their home, CROSS would have had to severely cut back on this homelessness prevention support.
In 2013, St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Three Rivers Initiative Fund, Henningson & Snoxell Attorneys at Law, Schuler Shoes, and several local families stepped up to ensure CROSS matched the $10,000 at 100 percent.
Now once again, in 2014, the community is helping take care of its neighbors. First Class Mortgage offered another $10,000 Matching Grant for the 2014 Peace of Mind Housing Fund and Opus Foundation and other local families have donated toward the match. During Maple Grove Days in July, the Rotary Club of Maple Grove and the 40 Winks Foundation will contribute 15 beds and the remaining funds raised through the Maple Grove Days Bed Race to CROSS’ Peace of Mind Housing Fund which will be matched $1 for $1 up to a total $10,000 by First Class Mortgage’s generosity.
During 2013, CROSS provided over 250 local families with over $84,000 of housing and financial assistance. CROSS exists to serve residents of Champlin, Corcoran, Dayton, Maple Grove, Osseo and Rogers.
