Maple Grove Days brings back a long time favorite event, the Rice Lake Classic Run.
Eighteen years of tradition, this 3.7 mile run around Rice Lake offers terrain and a scenic route in natural settings as it winds through neighborhoods around the lake, through natural forest area and open prairie grasses. The trail is an all-paved surface. The race begins at Freedom Field located behind Evangelical Free Church at 8585 Rice Lake Road Saturday, July 12, at 8 a.m.
Advance online registration is available at www.mgco.org/shop. The deadline is July 1. The fee is $10 with no day-of registrations permitted. Space is limited to the first 350 registered runners and usually fills before the deadline date. All participants will receive a t-shirt and post race refreshments.
While this is a fun run, it is timed and medals will be awarded to the top three women and men runners in each of the following divisions: Age 14 and under; Age 15-18, 19-29, Age 30-39, Age 40-49, Age 50-59, and Age 60 and over. The run is open to all, individual runners or a group and a fun photo area is provided for fun memories. Race clock timing supported by Wayzata Results, Inc.
For the younger racer, ages 5-12, there is the Kids Fun Run. This is the perfect opportunity to open up the joy of running to youngsters. This .8 mile run/walk is also Saturday, July 12, at 9:30 a.m. around North Arbor Lake (located on the east side of Main Street across from the Government Center). This is a free event with no pre-registration required but a signed waiver needs to be completed before participation. Ribbons are presented to all runners.
