Maple Grove swears in new Police Chief

During the Monday, June 16, Maple Grove City Council meeting, the council and a packed council chambers watched as the newest Maple Grove Police Chief Eric Werner was sworn in.

Werner was the former Rosemount Police Chief and also worked for the city of Burnsville.

Maple Grove Mayor Mark Steffenson swore in Werner. The Chief’s brother, Martin Werner, pinned his badge on.

Chief Werner addressed the Maple Grove City Council and the members of the Maple Grove Police Department and family after he was officially sworn in. “It’s a privilege to be selected as your new chief,” he said. “I think it goes without saying that the city of Maple Grove and its police department are highly respected, with great people living in the city, serving the city and for those reasons I am excited and proud to be here.”

He added he looked forward to partnering with community and physically working with the schools and businesses as the department works to keep the community safe.

“I have great faith in the officers and the civilian members of this department in providing the service to the community, ensuring we meet the future challenges and all that is ahead of us,” Chief Werner said.

The thanked the city for the opportunity and is committed making sure the community will be well served.
