Fire departments battle blaze at unoccupied Hanover home

The Hanover Fire and Rescue Department responded Thursday, June 12, at 11:41 a.m. to the 10,000 block of Fourth St. NE in Hanover for a report of a house filled with smoke.

Upon arrival, the department discovered fire in an unoccupied home. The initial interior fire attack was halted when part of the main floor collapsed, forcing firefighters out. It was then determined that fire was in the lower level of the home and firefighter used piercing nozzles to bring the fire under control.

No injuries were reported. Mutual aid was provided by the Rockford, St. Michael and Delano fire departments.

The Hanover department was on scene for seven hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Wright County Fire Investigation Team and the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
