Rockford High School held its 97th annual commencement ceremony on Thursday, June 5, in the Rockford Community Center. Speakers included Senior Class President Ellen Paatela and teacher Julie Merila, who gave the faculty address. The Rockford High School Band and A Cappella Choir also gave performances. As a tradition, the Senior Choir performed its final piece together. Also, at the ceremony this year, the district awarded Marilyn Nelson an honorary diploma and recognized Sandra Lupino as Rockford’s distinguished alumna.
