The Rogers girls golf season ended Thursday with three Royals who qualified for the second day of competition not making the top five for advancement to state.
Maddie Hol, a senior, shot 85-88-173 at the section, held at Links at Northfork. The cutoff was 169.
Hol was an all-conference player with an average of 86.42 in conference play. She also made all-conference as a junior.
Megan Secrist, a freshman, shot 92-92-185 at the section. She got honorable mention to all-conference with a 92.72 average.
Sydney Clark, a sophomore, the other Royal who advanced to the second round, shot 102-108-210.
Coach Cynthia Meyer said the Royals season highlights were placing second in the full 10-team Mississippi 8 Conference meet with 381 at Links, along with shooting their season low 360 at Riverwood National for second place in a five-team conference meet.
“This season the team improved a lot, lowering our team scores by an average of 20 shots over last year,” said Meyer. “We are a young team, graduating just one senior, Maddie Hol, and have a lot of talent among the underclassmen, making the future look bright.”
