Four Crimson to compete in state tennis

Four players will represent Maple Grove at this year’s state boys’ tennis tournament.

The Maple Grove boys’ tennis team enjoyed a great season, winning the school’s first conference championship and finishing second to No. 1 Mounds View in the section.

Zach Adkins won the Section 5 singles title and Sam Hochberger earned state berth with a true second showing in singles. In doubles, the Crimson twosome of Rory Calabria and Charlie Adkins won the section championship.

The four will compete at the state tournament starting June 5 at the University of Minnesota.

As a team, the Crimson’s bid for a third straight section team title was dashed by No. 1 Mounds View in the section final.
