Osseo golf girls hoping for better weather

The Osseo High girls’ golf team is hoping the weather will cooperate so it can get in more matches. So far, the Orioles have seen only limited action.

Osseo coach Bill Quan welcomes back a team that has a mixture of seniors and younger players. The Orioles are led by senior captains Lindsey Borgeson, Emily Hutchens Peterson and Katy Woelfel. Junior Atiqa Walji and freshman Maddie Gorman will also be playing varsity. Numerous girls, including senior Lianne Komen and junior Erin Lewison, will be battling it out for the sixth spot.

Quan also welcomes new assistant coach John Rieser and volunteer assistant coach Kayla Westling to his team.

In their first matches of the year the Orioles hosted Anoka and Elk River at Shamrock. They lost to Elk River 170-202.  The medalist was Morgan Blehyl from Elk River with a 39. Osseo defeated Anoka 202-212. Woelfel was the medalist with a 43, followed by Walji (50), Gorman (53), and Borgeson (56).
