Maple Grove Lions awards $25,000 in scholarships to high school seniors

The Maple Grove Lions Club has announced this year’s winners of the Dick Reimer/Maple Grove Lion Clubs Scholarships for the class of 2014. A total of $25,000 has been awarded to graduating seniors who reside in Maple Grove including one $5,000 scholarship and twenty $1,000 scholarships to be used for tuition at a university, college or trade school this fall.

Maple Grove Senior High School seniors receiving $1,000 scholarships were: Lina Ahmed, Hanna Beaupre, Alison Bodensteiner, Ashlyn Boehmer, Jacob Endres, Molly Hebzynski, Hannah Hempe, Bradley Lind, Blake Mitchell, Kelsey Saladin, Rachel Siegel and Maddie Smith.

Seniors from Osseo Senior High School receiving $1,000 scholarships included: Kerry Bloomfield, David Jedynak, Megan Nelson and Nick Wagner.

Wayzata High School seniors Apekshya Panda received a $1,000 scholarship and Katie Talerico received a $5,000 scholarship.

Abby Sauer from Benilde St. Margaret’s High School and Josh Sitarz from Totino Grace High School each received a $1,000 scholarship.

The Maple Grove Lion/Dick Reimer scholarship is named after one of the original charter members of the Maple Grove Lions which was formed in 1963. Proceeds from the Lions many fundraising projects are used to provide scholarships as well as many other community service projects.
