The Osseo Senior High boys’ tennis team is much improved this season but the Orioles were not able to avoid a loss to one of the top teams in the state in Maple Grove last week. The Crimson took the match 7-0.

Osseo’s line-up has Peter Berno, Cody Werner, Connor Dahlberg and Thor Thao in singles and Josh Mulvaney/Derek Brown, Mitchell Brewer/Ben Ameyaw and Henry Ho/Dennis Pham in doubles.

The Orioles are 3-3 so far with losses to Maple Grove, Elk River and Armstrong. Osseo coach John Licciardi is pleased with the team’s progress and looks for the Orioles to be competitive the rest of the season.

“I expect us to compete the rest of the way out,” he said. “There will be a lot of close matches so our kids will have to battle for each win. I am  very happy and optimistic about our position and believe that if we play our best we can finish in the top half of the NWSC.”
