Community gives back to CROSS

As a feature of the recently remodeled Cub Foods in Maple Grove, it donated to CROSS approximately one ton of non-perishable food items. Cub Foods in addition, participate in CROSS Food Rescue Program.

About the program: Food Rescue Program accepts perishable and shelf-stable food, with an emphasis on retail products such as meat, produce, deli, dairy and bakery. Each year millions of pounds of food are disposed of as waste. CROSS Food Rescue Program offers an innovative solution — redirect food that would otherwise be thrown away to families in need. CROSS has designated drivers that are certified in food handling to pick up items from participants of the Food Rescue program. CROSS picks up approximately 10 million pounds a year of nutritious food and distributes it to our families in need.

CROSS is gearing up for a busy Spring and Summer. To kick-off Spring the USPS Food Drive is Saturday, May 10. In addition, look for CROSS at a local Farmers Market and parades.

CROSS, located in Rogers, has been in existence for more than thirty years. CROSS is now servicing approximately 600 families monthly across our programs. CROSS is supported by community donations from individuals, businesses, churches, schools, foundations and civic organizations.
