STMA track sweeps triangular at Rogers

The STMA boys and girls track teams finally got outside for a meet against Rogers and North Branch. Rogers hosted the meet.

Lizzy Heil continued a strong start to her season by winning both the 800 (2:31.59) and 1600 (5:06.34) meter events. Heil and Sydney Tracy finished second and third, respectively, in the 400 meter event. Whitney Perry won the 100 meter dash event (13.17) and missed winning the 200 meter dash by .02 seconds (27.73).

The Knights relay teams performed solidly. The 4×100 and 4×400 teams won and the 4×200 and 4×800 teams finished second.

Erin Autio won the 300 meter hurdles and placed third in the 100 meter hurdles. She finished second in the long jump (15’ 10.5”) behind teammate Anna Keefer (16’ 3”) and won her regular event, the triple jump (34’ 8.5”). Josie Burns won the shot put (32’ 10.5”) and Lena Wilson won the discus throw.

On the boys side, the result was similar.

Josh Hesser won the boys 100 meter dash event with a time of 11.64 seconds. Josh Tracy won the 400 meter event with a time of 52.19 seconds. In the 800, Keith Jorgenson turned in a winning time of 2:09.48, about a second ahead of teammate Dominic Shovelain.

Chase Cayo won the 1600 and 3200, running under five minutes in the 1600 and under ten in the 3200. In relays, the Knights won three of the four races, placing third in the 4×200.

Isaiah Weston jumped an even six feet to win the high jump event and turned in a 21’ 2” long jump to win that event as well. Tyler Zahler won the triple jump event (38’ 11”).

The Knights had a meet on Tuesday hosted by Chisago Lakes.
