Attorney Scott Lepak has been named the new City Attorney for Champlin representing Barna, Guzy & Steffen, LTD (BGS). Former BGS and Champlin City Attorney Darrell Jensen retired from practice in March.
Lepak brings a wealth of experience to Champlin as its city attorney. He has been the St. Francis City Attorney since 2000. He has also served as the Becker City Attorney since 2009. Lepak will continue to serve those cities in that capacity. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point and the University of Minnesota Law School, Lepak has been representing cities and other local government since 1987. He is a nationally recognized speaker on labor and employment matters affecting the public sector. Scott has served as Champlin’s labor and employment counsel for the past 15 years.
“I am honored and very much looking forward to representing Champlin as its City Attorney,” Lepak said. “Champlin’s unique blend of history, location on the Mississippi River and vitality make this an ideal community to serve. My familiarity with the city will allow this transition to occur smoothly from Darrell’s many years of excellent service. Barna, Guzy & Steffen’s team approach and long history of representing cities will be invaluable as a resource to the city and to me. Darrell has also graciously agreed to continue to provide me with his insight if I buy him lunch.”
