Rockford used equipment collection

As one of its community service projects, the Rockford Area Athletic Association (RAAA) is collecting new and gently used sports equipment and shoes to disperse locally to families who are unable to participate in organized sports due to the cost of equipment.

Plus, items will go to Uganda through Make a Difference International, Inc. Upcoming collection dates include Saturday, May 3 at Rockford Public Works and May 12-18 at the Rockford Community Center bin during business hours.

Track camp in Rockford

A Youth Track Camp will be conducted on the new Rockford track facility, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26.

Sponsored by Rockford Community Education, the event is for youth in grades K-6. Coaches will go over some running and jumping techniques and then have races and jumps.

T-shirts and ribbons will be given to all who sign up through the Rockford Community Education program.

You can still sign up through Friday, April 25 at the community center or just show up  at 10 a.m. Saturday. Cost is $22.

 

Horseshoe club meets

The spring meeting of the Rockford Ringers Horseshoe Club is 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in the Lions Building at Riverside Park, 8220 Elm Street in Rockford.

There will be free club dues for any new member joining this year as well as free club dues for the member bringing in a new member to join the league.

League play is held Tuesday and or Wednesday and both nights are individual handicapped play. The 10-week league starting date will be determined at the meeting
