The Rogers Royals are 3-0 after defeating Monticello 6-3 on Monday at Monticello.
Freshman pitcher Melea Bruns took a 6-1 lead into the last of the seventh when the Magic got two runs on an error, walk, and single, before Bruns fanned their 2-3 hitters to end the game. Bruns had a five-hitter and nine strikeouts.
Madi Anderson hit a solo homer for the Royals and finished 1-for-4 with two runs. Bruns and Katelyn Kemmetmueller were each 2-for-4 and Emily Hanford 2-for-3. Anderson, Maddie Mikolich and Elli Anderson had one RBI each.

In earlier action, team cruised in their opener 9-0 over Chisago Lakes on Thursday in Lindstrom, led by Katelyn Kemmetmueller with a three-hit shutout and two RBI.
Kemmetmueller, sophomore right-hander, struck out 10 and walked three. She was 2-for-4 with a double.
Madi Anderson went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI in the cleanup spot for Rogers. Ellie Anderson was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Maddie Thiebault was 1-for-3 with two RBI.
The Royals had 12 hits off Alex Smith and Cassie Lynch.
A day later, Rogers freshman Melea Bruns won her varsity pitching debut as the Royals turned back St. Cloud Tech 5-3 in their home opener.
Bruns pitched the distance, holding down the Tigers except for Sam Eisenreich, who had a double and solo homer. Bruns gave up four hits and three walks, and struck out seven.
Madie Mikolich was 2-for-4 with two runs and RBI for the Royals. Katelyn Kemmetmueller was 2-for-3 and Emily Hanford and Elli Anderson each 1-for-3, and each had an RBI.
Rogers broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the fifth, after starting the inning with two batters bunting and getting aboard on throwing errors.
