Get ready now for the seventh annual 40 Wink Bed Race during Maple Grove Days this summer.
Businesses, churches, neighborhoods and individuals, this is a chance to have crazy fun for a great cause. Has anyone seen the creative entries over the years? Build a bed, make some costumes, practice racing skills and be the hit of the evening. This is a call for entry in the Bed Race benefitting children in Maple Grove and northwest suburbs. Applications can be found on the Maple Grove Days website: www.maplegrovedays.org.
The Rotary Club of Maple Grove is looking to increase donations at the Bed Race benefitting Slumberland Furniture’s 40 Winks Foundation. The 40 Winks Foundation seeks to provide mattresses and beds to children and families lacking these resources to help them attain one of the foundational blocks of life — a full and healthy night’s sleep. For too many children and families across America, getting a good night’s sleep is only something they dream about.
Rotary’s mission is to encourage and foster service in the community. The 40 Winks Foundation was created so the public can participate by donating monetarily to helping children get off the floor at night. One hundred percent of the proceeds donated go back into the community as beds to people in need.
The Bed Race brings a lot of excitement to Main Street on Saturday evening of Maple Grove Days. The 40 Winks Foundation will be donating all mattress sets from the Race to CROSS, a local charity.
Participants will need a team of five people (four people pushing the bed, one person riding). The $150 team entry fee will go toward a purchase of a bed that will be donated to CROSS. Bed racers will be encouraged to collect pledges. Entry deadline is June 15.
Maple Grove Days 40 Winks Bed Race is Saturday, July 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Main Street in front of the Town Green.
