After going 14-6 in 2013, the STMA boys tennis team is looking for another strong season with 9 returning letter winners.

The Knights will be led by their 2 senior captains:  #1 singles player Denver Robak a 4 year letter winner, who was 13-5 at #1 singles and  #1  doubles player & 3 year letter winner Zach House, who was 12-4 at #1 doubles.

Other returning starters are 3 year letter winners Juniors John Budde and Aaron Dorland who will need to play singles and doubles this year.  Ninth grader Jimmy Li will be starting his 3rd year on the varsity and will be at #2 singles, Junior Taylor Rothstein will be starting his 2nd year on the varsity and will be at #3 singles.

The following players will be starting their 2nd  years on the varsity and will be filling out our doubles line up:   Senior Josh Alexander, Juniors Joe Hebeisen and Cody Jones.

“We also have 2 year starter Grant Moser coming back out this year after taking last year off, which should strengthen our doubles teams,” coach Jim Riles said.

Players looking to fill out the 3 remaining varsity spots are:  seniors Dylan Smith, Ryan Scriver, Jake Peterson, Zander Nagengast, junior Ty Carlson, and sophomore William Dierberger.

“We are excited about our #’s with 27 boys out for JV & varsity and 14 out for the MS team,” Riles said. “We will have Ryan Antony coaching the MS team and Keith Cornell will be the Junior varsity coach.  We are now just waiting for some nice weather so we can get out and practice and get some matches going.”
