Advent Lutheran youth serve up dinner and laughs April 10-12

Somewhere between Saturday Night Live and the Brave New Workshop, and seasoned with a little YouTube that only a teenage mind know how to master, area residents will find Dinner Theatre from the youth April 10 to 12 at Advent Lutheran Church in Maple Grove.

Student Director Mac Rasmus helps Autumn Rasmus and Shannon Greely rehearse one of the skits planned for the Annual Dinner Theatre at Advent Lutheran Church. The production and fund raiser, written and produced by Advent youth, is set for April 10 to 12. Contact Advent Lutheran Church for ticket information at 763-425-4243.

A youth-served dinner followed by a series of comedy skits and music, with homemade commercial breaks sprinkled in, are designed to poke fun at daily reality and life experiences. Advent’s youth demonstrate their talents as part of this annual tradition that raises funds for summer camps and mission programs.

Now in its 11th year, Dinner Theatre has become a staple, not only at Advent Lutheran, but in the Osseo and Maple Grove communities.

“We have all sorts of wacky and hilarious things planned for those that come this year,” said Student Director Mac Rasmus. “And every year the new talent and great ideas are always amazing and brings everyone together to make a difference in our communities.”

Dinner Theatre begins at 6:15 p.m. each night with dinner served in the Church fellowship hall, followed by this year’s production, “Advent’s Still Got Talent…We Think.” Tickets are still available for $15 for adults and $10 for youth and Advent youth promise a great evening for all.

“The summer camp programs, youth mission trips and BWCA Canoe programs continue to be the cornerstone of helping youth grow spiritually and serve others at Advent,” said Shannon Greely, Director of Education Ministries. “Dinner Theatre is just a great way for the youth to take on that responsibility and have fun raising the funds they need each year to accomplish their goals.”

Rasmus added, “We hope people will come expecting to have a great night out and watch youth take the center stage in some talented fun as they have done an outstanding job again this year.”
