Maple Grove to host meeting on Level 3 predatory offender

The Maple Grove Police Department has been notified that a Level 3 Predatory Offender has moved into the 8900 block of Weston Lane N.

Paul Raymond Knutson, 52, is the Level 3 predatory offender. He is 5’10”, 189 pounds with a medium building, blue eyes and grey hair.

The offender has a history of sexual contact with adult female victims. One victim was a vulnerable due to physical disability. Knutson gained compliance with one victim by binding her and using a weapon.

He gained access to the victims by entering their residences without permission and he was not known to his victims.

The investigating agencies were the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and Brooklyn Park Police. Knutson was released in July of 2006.

The Maple Grove Police Department will be hosting a community notification meeting Thursday, April 3, at 7 p.m. at Maple Grove Senior High School, 9800 Fernbrook Lane N.

The Minnesota Department of Corrections will provide a presentation on the Minnesota Offender Notification laws, safety tips and information pertaining to the offender. Members of the Maple Grove Police Department and the Minnesota Department of Corrections will be available to answer questions, as part of this notification meeting.

Maple Grove Police may not direct where Knutson does or does not reside, nor can it direct where he works or goes to school. The risk level of this offender has been determined based largely on his potential to re-offend based on his previous criminal behavior.
