North Shore gymnasts earn top state meet honors

North Shore Gymnastics Association’s boys team did very well at the recent state meet at Anoka Ramsey Community College by capturing eight individual first place finishes.

A team of 24 boys represented the club based in Maple Plain.

The Level 8 team finished second with a score of 204.700.  Josh Fix (15) was state champion on pommel horse and rings. Fix placed second on parallel bars, third on vault and fifth All-Around.

Daryn Strub (12) was the state champion on floor, pommel horse, vault, high bar and All-Around. Strub also finished second on rings and parallel bars.

Sam Senneka (13) won the state title on pommel horse.  He also finished third on vault and high bar.

NSGA’s Level 10 gymnast, Levi Gustafson, 16, placed fourth on floor exercise, pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar.  He also placed fifth in the All-Around.

In Level 7, Kyle Elliott placed second on high bar, third on floor and fourth on pommel horse, parallel bars and All-Around. Max Bortnem (12) placed third on vault. Cole Smith (11) finished fourth on pommel horse in Level 6.

NSGA’s Level 5 team placed seventh. William Wehmann (10) placed third on parallel bars and fourth on pommel horse and vault.  Haden Paravecino (10) finished fourth on rings and fifth on floor.

Levi Sherman (8) took third on high bar, fourth on vault and fifth on floor.  Mac Harmer (8) was the state champion on vault. In Level 4, Michael Hanekom (9) finished second on vault.
