Students whip up specialty foods

OSHculinaryArtsOsseo Senior High’s Health Science Magnet Program is excited to share its most recent curriculum partnership with the Culinary Arts program at OSH. The Health for Medical Careers course, taught by Amy Grider and the Culinary Arts 1 course led by Rebecca Cranston collaborated to address the issue of special medical needs related to nutrition. Students learned about meal planning for people who are athletes, have Celiac disease, Diabetes, heart-disease, vegan, lactose intolerance and nut allergies. After learning about the dietary needs, students selected recipes and in collaborative teams which combined students form both courses, the students prepared and sampled the menu.
