Quilt exhibit 

FEB. 4 TO MARCH 1 — The Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., will kick off its sixth annual quilt exhibit with an open house on Tuesday, Feb. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. The open house will include quilting demonstrations and refreshments. Sponsors are the Calico Quilters who will also be presenters for the evening. People who would like to display their quilts are invited to bring them to the library by Feb. 1. The exhibit will continue during library open hours between Feb. 4 and March 1.

TOPS

FEB. 20 — The Rockford chapter of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets at the Riverside Park building every Thursday evening with weigh-in starting at 5:30 and meeting from 7 to 8. For more information, call Geneva at 763-477-6584.

Read to a Dog

FEB. 22 — Young children are invited to “Read To a Dog” at the Rockford Public Library on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Children will read to Kirk, a five-year-old Farm Collie who has achieved his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate and loves listening to children read. This program is particularly helpful to children who are not confident readers. Children may bring a favorite book, or pick one out at the library.

Draw animal cartoons

FEB. 22 — Children and teens ages 9 to 15 are invited to a hands-on cartooning program presented by cartoonist Gary Harbo at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 22. Harbo is the author and illustrator of 21 books, including “How To Draw 104 Cartoons With Gary Harbo.” He will teach easy step-by-step techniques for creating two-dimensional animal cartoons. Participants are asked to bring a sharpened pencil with an eraser and sheets of copy paper. Attendance limit is 25 and registration is required. Call the library at 763-972-3467 to register. This program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Book Club

FEB. 24 —The Rockford Public Library Book Club for adults will meet Monday, Feb. 24, from 2 to 3 p.m. The book for discussion is “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. Newcomers are welcome to join this group.

Snuggle Up and Read

FEB. 24 — The Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., is offering a Snuggle Up & Read interactive storytime for toddlers from 10:30 to 10:50 a.m., Monday, Feb. 24. This storytime for children 18 months to three years will include singing, clapping and fun stories. Caregivers will learn a new literacy tip each week. Delano School Board

FEB. 24 — The Delano School Board will meet Monday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. at Delano City Hall, located on Bridge Avenue at Second Street.

Bivoli Folkdancing

FEB. 25 — Come and learn international dances that are fun and easy to learn. Bivoli Folkdancing will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month on the second floor of the Heritage Center, Bridge Avenue and Second Street in Delano. No experience or partner is necessary. Drop-in when ever you can and stay as long as you want. Bring a reusable water bottle and wear comfortable walking shoes. Cost is one dollar per session.

Winter Morning Stories 

FEB. 25 — Preschoolers ages three to five are invited to Winter Morning Stories storytime at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, Help prepare your child for reading by joining this group. It’s Just Coffee

FEB. 25 — Come meet your neighbors, share a cup of coffee and talk. Bring a friend and join in the fun.  It’s Just Coffee meets the last Tuesday of every month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.  Your memories of Greenfield History are always welcome as this is also the home of The Greenfield Historical Society. Coffee and treats are provided; we request donations for coffee and supplies. Preschool Storytime

FEB. 26 — The Rockford Public Library will host a Preschool Storytime on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 11:15 a.m. to noon. Preschool Storytime includes crafts, stories and songs. The theme will be “Color.

12 West Toastmasters

FEB. 26 — 12 West Toastmasters meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 7:30 a.m. at the Bohemian Wine Bar and Grill, located on Second St. north of Bridge Avenue in Delano. A second 12 West group meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 11:45 a.m. at Unhinged Pizza (the former Pizza Ranch) at Delano Crossings retail center, located at Highway 12 and County Line Road. Teen Battle of the Books 

FEB. 26 — Teens ages 13 to 17 are invited to take part in a Teen Battle of the Books at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E. from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26. Teammates will read three or four books and answer trivia questions for this fast-paced competition. Stop in or call the library for a list of titles. Prizes and treats are included. WOW Wellness on Wheels

FEB. 27 — On Thursday, Feb. 27, from 2 to 6 p.m. at BANKWEST in Rockford (the parking lot on Highway 55 and Main St.) the WOW Van — a mobile health resource that provides families with information and assistance on topics such as health insurance coverage, dental health, mental health and a variety of health screenings, including school immunizations — will be available to the public. 60s Motown Party

MARCH 1 — “60s Motown Party” is the theme of this year’s Delano Chamber of Commerce banquet, set for Saturday, March 1, at B’s on the River, 1455 County Road 27 in Watertown. A party hour from 6 to 7 p.m. will be followed by an all you can eat buffet from 7 to 8 p.m. Entertainment will be provided from 6 to 11 p.m. Tickets will cost $15 per person or $25 per couple. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis at Crow River Bank, Coborn’s, State Bank of Delano, Delano Chamber of Commerce, and Chevrolet of Delano – Star West Motorsports.
