The Rogers portion of the Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman gymnastics team had a strong section meet on Thursday, placing third, although no individuals advanced to state.

“I couldn’t be prouder of them,” said coach Jackie Deiley. “They hit everything. They were solid. We had a phenomenal time.”

Rogers scored 136.925, close to the season-best 137.4 by the full ERZ squad, in Section 5AA at Irondale. Champlin Park won with 142.725 and Mounds View had 137.275.

Katie Fleck placed sixth in bars and seventh on vault and floor.  Fleck placed seventh all-around, Corryn Stelflug ninth and Morgan Wallmow 10th. Wallmow had the highest finish, fifth in beam with a personal best 8.9.

The Elk River portion of the team, including the other two all-arounders, Krista Kovar and Alyssa George, will compete in Section 8AA on Saturday in Moorhead. The team’s two Zimmerman girls, Lexi Stepan and Molli McChesney, will compete in Section 7A at Princeton.
