Ninety Delano elementary age students have formed two casts to bring the story of “Willy Wonka” to life on the stage at Delano Middle School this week.

Students in third through sixth grades will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20 and Friday, Feb. 21. Matinee performances will take place at 1 and 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22. Tickets will be available at the door. Delano Community Education is sponsoring the production.

“Watch the story of poor Charlie Bucket as he wins a chance to tour the Wonka Candy Factory along with four other lucky winners,” said Director Barb Roy. “One of these five has a chance to take over the factory when Mr. Wonka retires. The play has all your favorite songs from the movie like ‘Candy Man’ and ‘Golden Ticket.’”

Leading the casts are Molly Oeffling and Maria Molitor as Willy and Owen Dailey and Hunter Elwood as Charlie.
