Basketball: Royal boys tip Becker 64-60

Steffan Mosoke scored 16 points and helped Rogers pull away late in the game as the Royals beat Becker 64-60 at home Friday evening.

Mosoke, a sophomore, hit a layup after a steal to give Rogers a 58-57 lead, and made it 62-57 with two free shots.

Cole Murray notched 17 points and nine rebounds as the Royals (9-12) won their third straight game. Gunnar Bloom supplied eight points, seven assists, six rebounds and four steals.

Michael Feldman scored 21 for the Bulldogs (10-12).

In earlier action, Rogers guard Gunnar Bloom and center Cole Murray led the way as the Royals beat Cambridge-Isanti 74-64 at home.

Bloom sank 15 points and made seven assists, and Murray notched 18 points and 14 rebounds. Both are juniors. Coby Stoe, a sophomore, added 12 points for the Royals (4-6 in the Mississippi 8 and 8-12 overall).

Matt Swanson hit 24 points and Evan Dunbar 18 for the Bluejackets (4-5 conference, 1-8 overall).

On Feb. 3, Cole Murray scored 29 points, five of them in overtime, leading the Rogers Royals to an 80-71 win over North Branch.

The 6-foot-9 junior center shot 13-for-15 from the field and 3-for-6 at the line, while grabbing 10 rebounds.

Coby Stoe sank 14 points off the bench, with four 3-pointers. Stoe sank a 3-pointer for a 68-66 lead in the final minute. Travis Van Elsberg, who netted 25 points for the Vikings, hit a basket to tie the score. Stoe just missed from the top of the key as time expired.

Steffan Mosoke added 12 points and got Rogers off to a good start in overtime, drawing a foul on a drive and sinking two free shots. The Royals outscored the Vikings 12-3 in the extra session.

Rogers improved to 3-6 in the Mississippi 8 and 7-12 overall, and North Branch fell to 2-8 and 6-13.

Rogers was to play at Big Lake on Tuesday evening.
