Maple Grove Lions Club supports literacy for area students with grant

The Maple Grove Lions Club recently presented a $27,000 grant to District 279 Foundation’s Literacy Program. The funds will be used to purchase materials for the school district’s 27 media centers.

“The media centers are the one place in every single building where every single student and staff member in the building will have access to the materials purchased with this donation,” said Brian Siverson-Hall, executive director of community engagement director and District 279 Foundation. “This is an outstanding example of how the participation of local citizens makes a difference in the lives of our community’s children.”

According Siverson-Hall, the $27,000 will be evenly distributed to all of the media centers in Osseo Area Schools.

The Maple Grove Lions Club celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2013. The Maple Grove Lions Club is a service organization of local residents who, through community service, strive to enrich and improve the lives of citizens in their community, their nation and the world.
