It’s Just Coffee
JAN. 28 — Come meet your neighbors, share a cup of coffee and talk. Bring a friend and join in the fun. It’s Just Coffee meets the last Tuesday of every month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Your memories of Greenfield History are always welcome as this is also the home of The Greenfield Historical Society. Coffee and treats are provided; we request donations for coffee and supplies. JAN. 28 — Come and learn international dances that are fun and easy to learn. Bivoli Folkdancing will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month on the second floor of the Heritage Center, Bridge Avenue and Second Street in Delano. No experience or partner is necessary. Drop-in when ever you can and stay as long as you want. Bring a reusable water bottle and wear comfortable walking shoes. Cost is one dollar per session.
Dr. King’s Dream
JAN. 29 — The Delano Public Library will sponsor two performances of “Dr. King’s Dream” by the Mixed Blood Theatre at the Delano Middle School Auditorium, Tiger Drive at Elm Avenue Wednesday, Jan. 29. Performance times are from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. and 2 to 2:45 p.m. The presentation is drawn from Dr. King’s letters, sermons, books and speeches, and illuminates why he is honored with a holiday each January. Performances are open to the public and are funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
JAN. 30 — The Rockford chapter of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets at the Riverside Park building every Thursday evening with weigh-in starting at 5:30 and meeting from 7 to 8. For more information, call Geneva at 763-477-6584.
WOW Wellness on Wheels
JAN. 30 — Wellness on Wheels (WOW) will be in the BankWest parking lot in downtown Rockford on Thursday, Jan. 30, from 2 to 6 p.m. The WOW van is a mobile health resource that provides families with information and assistance on topics such as health insurance, dental health, mental health and a variety of health screenings. FEB. 1 — CODA will provide musical entertainment at the annual Snowflake Luncheon Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Delano American Legion, located on Bridge Avenue at Highway 12. Proceeds from the event will support community service projects of the General Federated Women’s Club of Delano. The 2013-14 project is the Delano Middle School auditorium renovation. Price of tickets for this ladies only event is $17.50. They are available from any GFWC member and from Pat Sawatzke during business hours Wednesday through Saturday at Downtown Beauty, 228 N. River St., Delano.
Delta Waterfowl annual banquet
FEB. 1 — The Marsh Madness chapter of Delta Waterfowl will be holding its seventh annual fundraising banquet Saturday, Feb. 1, at the St. Michael Community Room. Doors open at 5 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. The evening will include live and silent auctions, as well as gun boards and raffles, along with a prime rib dinner. Celebrity emcee will be Captain Billy Hildebrand of KFAN Outdoors. Admission price of $65 includes dinner and membership. Couples’ price is $90. First youth price is $25. Each additional youth is $10.

Wool felt penny mug rug class
FEB. 1 — Adults and teens, 12 and older, are invited to learn the Civil War art of penny rug making at the Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 1. Participants will make a small coaster to take home, using the buttonhole embroidery stitch. Attendance is limited and registration is required. To register, call the Delano Library at 763-972-3467. “Freeze Your Buns Run”
FEB. 2 — The Hamel Lions are sponsoring a 5K “Freeze Your Buns Run” in conjunction with their annual pancake breakfast on Feb. 2 (Super Bowl Sunday) at 9:45 a.m. at the Hamel Community Center (3200 Mill St., Hamel). Registration prior to January 24 is $25, and includes the run, a pancake breakfast and T-shirt. On the day of the event, registration will be $30. FEB. 4 TO MARCH 1 — The Delano Public Library, 160 Railroad Ave. E., will kick off its sixth annual quilt exhibit with an open house on Tuesday, Feb. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. The open house will include quilting demonstrations and refreshments. Sponsors are the Calico Quilters who will also be presenters for the evening. People who would like to display their quilts are invited to bring them to the library by Feb. 1. The exhibit will continue during library open hours between Feb. 4 and March 1.

60 Plus and Healthy Clinics
FEB. 4 — Wright County Public Health will offer a 60 Plus and Healthy Clinic from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Rockford Walnut Place Apartments, 8830 Walnut Place, Rockford. Public Health staff will trim toenails for seniors who have a health condition such as diabetes or are unable to trim toenails themselves. Staff will check blood pressures if needed and as time allows. Cost for foot care services is $15. Those who are unable to pay will not be turned away. from our clinic. Pre-school, Kindergarten open house
FEB. 6 — Mt. Olive Lutheran School, 435 Bridge Ave. E., Delano will host an open house for families of preschool and Kindergarten age children from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6. A short program by current preschool and Kindergarten classes will be followed by tours and school information. Children will meet with prospective teachers for activities.
