Driver attempts to flee police in Rogers, crashes, arrested for DWI

RogPoliceBadgeRogers Police report that a driver was arrested for DWI after attempting to flee police Monday, Jan. 13, at 2:56 p.m.

An officer observed a vehicle fail to obey a traffic control device at northbound Main Street and 141st Avenue. The officer proceeded to stop the vehicle but the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. The vehicle abruptly took a hard left turn into a business in the 14700 block of Main Street and slammed into the curb causing the vehicle to go airborne hitting a business sign.

The vehicle lost control and slid towards the business possibly hitting the building. The vehicle struck numerous wooded pallets piled near the business. The driver attempted to flee but in the vehicle but was unable to leave due to no traction and not exit available.

Upon further investigation the driver did not have a valid driver’s license and was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and was transported to Hennepin County Jail for second degree driving under the influence.
